The Internet Reacts to Kim and Kanye’s Divorce Reports

Hashtag sad.

Things are apparently over between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. According to a Tuesday evening report by Page Six, multiple sources told the outlet that a “divorce is imminent” and that Kardashian has hired Laura Wasser, the divorce attorney who represented her during her 2011 divorce from Kris Humphries.

The Hollywood couple has been married since 2014. Rumors that they were calling it quits have been around since at least 2016 but became especially strong in 2020 after a combination of events, including West’s now-deleted series of tweets in which he claimed he had been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek [Mill] at the Warldolf [sic] for ‘prison reform,’” and that the Kardashians were trying to force him to seek psychiatric treatment – the musician has been open about his bipolar disorder diagnosis and Kim took to social media last year after the episode to ask the public for compassion.

“Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” she wrote on Instagram.

West’s presidential campaign was, apparently, another factor that influenced Kardashian’s decision. She has reportedly not been seen wearing her wedding ring and the two spent the holidays apart, with the rapper staying at his Wyoming ranch while the Kardashians remained in Calabasas. According to TMZ, the two have been living separately for a few months now but “they haven’t given up” yet, having even tried marriage counseling.

E! News reported that the only thing keeping the reality TV star from officially filing for divorce are their children: North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, 1. “It’s not about the marriage anymore, she’ll always care for Kanye but it’s over between them,” a source told E!. “Kim is only focused on what’s best for the kids.”

Kimye fans have noticed Kardashian hasn’t posted a photo with West on Instagram since November, on the tenth anniversary of his album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” The post included photos of a poem he wrote for her that ended up inspiring the song “Lost In The World.”

Of course, people took to social media to react to the news:
