Troye Sivan has already made a name for himself as an openly gay artist and his activist for his community (not to mention his talents as a musician). Now he’s making history in a different way; at this year’s GLADD Media Awards, Sivan will become the youngest person to receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, an accolade given to people whose work to promote equality and acceptance has made a major different for the LGBT cause.

"Troye Sivan embodies a generation of LGBTQ youth who are unapologetic, outspoken, and proud to be who they are,” Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President and CEO, said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “He has quickly become a leading voice of his generation and sends a message of hope and empowerment with every song, music video, and social post.”

The V103 cover star joins previous recipients Ellen DeGeneres, Melissa Etheridge, Laverne Cox, Ruby Rose, and Chaz Bono, important figures who have paved the way for the LGBT community in their own right. Sivan's win is a major coup for gay youth, who have often looked up to him as an young, out and proud influencer that they could relate to. He will accept the award at the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony on Saturday, April 1.
