Who are your musical icons?

Iconic is a hard word to personify. That said, if I had to pick my musical icons, I would say Michael and Janet Jackson because their style and overall musical influence has most directly impacted me as an artist. I admire them for everything from their stage shows to their music videos.

What was the first album you purchased?

…Baby One More Time by Britney Spears. I had the enhanced CD, so I would pop it in the computer and watch her music videos and see pictures of her.

Which artists are you listening to right now?

The new James Blake, the Internet, Kanye West, and Kaytranada.

My favorite part about touring would have to be…

Not only being able to touch the fans and see their reaction at the shows, but also to be able to go into different cities and feel their essences. I’m most inspired when I’m on the road taking in different

cultures and seeing what new trends are out there.

How would you describe your style?

My style tends to be very mood driven. Every day is a new day and my style reflects the mood I’m in on that particular day.

Do you ever get nervous before going on stage?

I have to say, I feel the most comfortable in my own skin when I am on stage. So, as opposed to being nervous, when I am on stage I am actually the most calm and feel the most like my true self.

The best thing about being a performer is…

Being able to express myself through my dance and music, and being able to connect to other people through my art.

Joyride is available from RCA records this fall.
