For its newest fragrance campaign, Calvin Klein decided to open the vault and unearth gems that have remained hidden until now. The brand is using unseen raw footage from the iconic 1993 Calvin photoshoot with Kate Moss for Obsessed, the same fragrance they are rolling out again next month, for the new campaign. Klein himself sent Moss and photographer Mario Sorrenti, at that time an inseparable pair, to a deserted beach and simply take photos. What they produced became one of the most well-known ad campaigns in history.

The black-and-white footage of the new commercial immediately looks familiar—after all, that image of Moss frolicking on the beach will be engrained in our brains for generations to come. But the refreshed ad brings a new sense of intimacy and nostalgia, due in part to Sorrenti’s mystifying voiceover. “I was 20, she was 18," he says. ”We had nothing to lose.” In embracing that, they won the hearts of the fashion world.
