Just hours after announcing his new album Starboy, The Weeknd has released the title track, a collaboration with Daft Punk. The legendary electronic duo contribute beats and background vocals to the spacey track, which signals a different direction for both acts.

“Starboy” veers away from the bumping, pop-leaning tracks of his previous Grammy-nominated album Beauty Behind the Madness by adopting the hazy vibes and calmer soundscapes found on his debut collection of mixtapes Trilogy. The subtle synths and piano chords set up the song as a somber ode to women and drugs before Daft Punk’s hypnotic “ah”’s and The Weeknd’s repeated brag of “I’m a motherfuckin’ starboy” solidifies it as the perfect melancholic soundtrack for your space excursion.

The release of this collaboration comes as no surprise after The Weeknd posted a photo of two robot figures and emojis in August, prompting speculation of his work with the reclusive duo. It’s a notable feat for alt-R’n’B artist considering that the duo is notoriously selective with their collaborations.

The VMAN 36 cover star also announced that the album will be released on November 25. It is set to contain 18 tracks, with only “False Alarm” announced as a song title so far.
