Back in March, 15 year-old Willow Smith was crowned Karl Lagerfeld’s most recent ambassadress, an exclusive title shared by only a select few, with past muses including Kirsten Stewart and Lily-Rose Depp. Yesterday, the young singer, actress and dancer debuted as lead of her first official campaign for the French brand, as the face of Chanel Eyewear.

After meeting back in 2014 on a shoot for V, the duo have been in close collaboration, with Willow becoming a regular at Karl Lagerfeld’s shows—one of which being Chanel’s Fall 2016 presentation at Paris Fashion Week.  In an official statement, the brand spoke of how Lagerfeld was consistently inspired by Willow’s youth and energy: “Swathed in jewels from the Fall-Winter 2016/17 Ready-to-Wear collection, she breathes new energy into the world of Chanel eyewear.”

Historically, Lagerfeld has a knack for scoping out fashion's future faces, most notably Cara Delevingne, who has continues to collaborate with the brand even after her (partial) retirement from modeling.  Lagerfeld's newest muse, who is openly liberal in her views and attitude, speaks a great deal about Chanel's progressive nature.
