09.16.08 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK, DAY SIX
Architecture at Calvin, prime photo-ops at Tommy, and fashion zoo at Zac

Calvin Klein is one of my favorite shows to shoot. The clothes are beautiful, I love seeing Francisco, they've got the best spread of food in town and it's my first show on Thursday and starts at 4 p.m.. Even though Wednesdays always leave me feeling like I've been hit by a truck, backstage Calvin is more like a party than work.

I spent the first part of the day catching up on uploading and blogging but still wanted to be at Calvin early. Tyra Banks was there and I just barely grabbed a shot of her as she was escorted past. The clothes were very architectural and how Francisco was able to pull it off with fabric is beyond me. Spent the first part of the show in an impromptu photo shoot with Pat, Guido, and Raquel (the other highlights of Calvin), then ten minutes of the girls in the clothes and I was off to Tommy (with a full belly).

Tommy was a lot of fun. Played with Freja and Catherine McNeil for awhile, caught up with an old friend and grabbed the ONLY shot of Diane Kruger, Hilary Swank, Tommy, and John Legend. The pit was five deep and I had just about given up trying to get singles of each of them until Tommy noticed my V T-shirt (I should've been wearing that all week) and assembled the group for my lens. As usual, always a gentleman. First looks was crazy, I shot what I could and headed to Zac, but not before realizing the exit was in the same spot as where the models exited the stage. So I quicky grabbed what I could there and hit the road.

Zac was a zoo! EVERYONE wants to be backstage at his show and this season we had Venus and Serena (who I kept calling Venus), Leighton Meester, and one of my all-time faves Juliette Lewis, who was very cool. The girls were fierce and the gowns were some of the best I'd seen all week. Especially Raquel and Catherine's. Unfortunately (me and all my camera drama) the batteries on my flash died the second first looks started so I grabbed what I could and then posed with Lara in my V55 T-shirt with her face plastered on it. Thankfully Greg Kessler grabbed a shot of us, surprisingly, it never occurred to me to get a photo with her. The show was a huge success and the energy backstage at a Zac show is like no other.

Even though the day started late, by the time I got off the L in Brooklyn I was somewhat disoriented from the week which was only exaggerated by stepping onto the street and realizing it was 9/11. After several attempts at grabbing a shot of the "towers" being projected in to the sky from downtown I set my camera down, lit a cigarette, and headed home. Only to realize I'd left my camera sitting on the street three blocks back!! In Bushwick!! Obviously the last place you'd wanna make a mistake like this. I've never sprinted so fast.

Just one more day bitches! Ralph and then Donna and I'm outta here!
