HYPERVENOM, THAT IS—NIKE'S LATEST PERFORMANCE FOOTWEAR INNOVATION TOOK RIO BY STORM THIS WEEK, WITH THE HELP OF A SLICK-FOOTED SOCCER SUPERSTAR
Nike isn't known for resting on their laurels. When it comes to inventing new breakthroughs in performance-fueling athletic footwear, the megabrand's top echelon of designers and thinkers turn to the athletes themselves to workshop and hone the ingenuity of their latest game-changers.
This week, the focus is on Nike Hypervenom, a soccer boot created with the help of players like Neymar, Wayne Rooney, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In need of a cleat that could help them create space in and around penalty areas to get shots from any angle, the players agreed that agility is the order of the day. "I want a boot that helps enhance my agility and gives me the space to get my shot off before I'm closed down," Neymar said.
The boot itself consists of a new upper area built with NIKESKIN (mesh and thin polyurethane), to closest simulate the feeling of playing barefoot.
It also looks awesome.
Check out the premiere of the Hypervenom on June 2nd, when Neymar and Rooney don them in the faceoff game between the Brazilian and English national teams. Game on!
