Iris van Herpen's fifth Haute Couture collection, "Beyond Wilderness," is a walk in the park. The designer known for the most futuristic of fashion moments is taking inspiration from nature lately, but that doesn't mean the clothes will rely on anything so organic. For example the shoes, a collaboration with United Nude's Rem D Koolhaas, were entirely 3-D printed, and the dresses, a collaboration with Jolan van der Wiel, were magnetically grown.
Says Koolhaas of the work, "It was a great challenge to work with Iris this time as we were using 3-D printing for the shoes entirely. The hardest part was the figuring out of the materials and 3-D printing techniques to be used. Fashion is always a race against time and 3-D printing allows you to move fast. The promise for the future of this technology is very powerful!"
