We thought we couldn't get any more excited about the MTV Video Music Awards. First, they told us it was at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, for the first time ever. Next, our next issue's cover model Lady Gaga was announced as an act, which will not only be the first time she performs anything from her forthcoming album, ARTPOP, live, but will be the first time she performs since her injury, which put her out of commission for a year. Obvious but no less exciting choices will be Daft Punk and Kanye West, with songs off their albums of the summer. Kanye's welcome back to the VMA stage will surely result in some controversy, or at least some well timed jokes about finishing. As of a few days ago, our beloved cover girl from V83, Miley Cyrus is scheduled to perform a new song from her forthcoming BANGERZ, which obviously has to be a banger, and a breakout performance, since it seems her wild days are just getting started.
Pretty much MTV is booking its awards show based on the V office's daily soundtrack, right? What next? Will the DJs be Paris Hilton and Tiesto? Will the speakers be Prince and a hologram of Whitney Houston? Will Blue Ivy Carter and North West announce the award for best video? Will we even be able to take as much excitement as we're getting in one night before anyone else gets up on that stage? And, real question: Will we really see BK on MTV as MTV lands in BK?
Watch the video above to see Miley make her way to our charmingly filthy second favorite borough, Brooklyn, and see if she and the rest can't handle the new MTV spot on August 25th.
