Last week, editors and art aficionados were treated to a special preview of "Isa Genzken: Retrospective" at the Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition (on display through March 10th, 2014) is generously underwritten by Céline, and the celebratory opening evening hosted by CEO Marco Gabbetti and designer Phoebe Philo, who is rarely spotted in New York. Of course it makes perfect sense that the wonderfully elusive designer would make her way to the Big Apple to support one of the most important female artists of our time. Genzken's oeuvre stretches 40 years, and this retrospective, the largest of its kind with over 150 objects on display, is instantly captivating with can't-be-missed installations, paintings, collages, drawings, and sculptures that challenge the conundrums of current society. Those on hand to soak up the surroundings included Sofia Coppola, Kim Gordon, Dianna Picasso, and Cindy Sherman.
