Friday, December 6th. The well-read and the well-heeled came together last night at Miami’s Soho Beach House for a private dinner hosted by Artsy and Valentino, celebrating CalArts’s latest addition to the empire: a new building of artists’ studios named in honor of artist and alumni John Baldessari. Under a swank gray tent peppered with white chandeliers, guests like it-girls Atlanta de Cadenet, Lady Victoria Hervey, and Nicky Hilton sat on shabby-chic couches while the Atlantic crashed just beyond a row of tiki torches.
Further downtown, Hakkasan hosted a private dinner in the courtyard of the late Gianni Versace’s mansion, where guests likes Adrian Grenier—fresh from the opening of his environmentally-minded “Elementals” art exhibition—were treated to a five-course meal, tropical breezes, and perhaps more Italian-inspired opulence than you’ll find anywhere else in Miami Beach.
Over at the Standard Spa, Jean Pigozzi and André Saraiva, in collaboration with Absolut Elyx, hosted cocktails and a dinner to mark the conclusion of their Artist of the Day poster series collaboration. Over 1,000 posters were hung throughout the streets of Miami all week, honoring three prominent artists at the fair: Maurizio Cattelan, Damien Hirst and Takashi Murakami.
Later, VFILES joined forces with A$AP Worldwide and Shayne Oliver for a party at Story, in all its perfectly lit, superclub glory. Don’t worry. If you missed it, you can relive the night through their very thorough live Tweeting of the event.
