PHOTOGRAPHY CARI VUONG COURTESY THE ARTIST AND PAUL KASMIN GALLERY
All hail America! Last Thursday art aficionados of every stripe swung by the Paul Kasmin Gallery for the unveiling of Will Ryman's impressive log cabin, which is coated in gold resin and questions the arc of American capitalism. Appropriating Abraham Lincoln's own boyhood cabin for the piece, guests were encouraged to enter the structure to witness the minute consumer products that Ryman used to create elaborate sculptures that lined the interior walls. It was both blinding and brilliant. You may have noticed that Jason Schmidt captured Ryman while the project was in its nascent stages. Here is the finished product in all its gilded glory.
