Jordan Peele’s Eerie Remix of Say My Name Has People Going Nuts

Candyman’s temptation seems almost too strong to resist.

The internet is going crazy for the sultry and evidently eerie remix of Destiny’s Child’s Say My Name, featured in Jordan Peele and Nia DaCosta’s trailer for their newest film Candyman. The iconic 90s ballad, which shot Queen B straight to stardom, takes on a whole new meaning when it’s just that fitting to the nature of the film.

Jordan Peele made waves in the film industry with his first hit and directorial debut, Get Out, and has continued to produce box office hits ever since. Touching on social issues including racial issues, gentrification, and inequality, Peele’s horror films work to entertain and inform. This time, Peele has teamed up with Nia DaCosta, a female director, to remake Candyman, a 1992 film whose premise revolves around a serial killer and son of a slave who was killed in 1890 for his relationship with a white woman. Roaming Chicago’s housing projects and killing those brave enough to say his name in front of a mirror, Candyman is not one to be taken lightly.

From the protagonist, an artist who moves into an old candy factory, to school girls and adults alike testing the limits and partaking in a possibly harmless rouse, the temptation of Candyman seems too strong to resist.

Watch the trailer below for what will surely be June’s hottest blockbuster.
