Below is a quick snapshot of who they are and what their collection was about, followed by a picture of one featured looks within their collection:
BLK DNM
Launched in 2011 by Johan Lindeberg, BLK DNM is a creative workshop where denim is at the core of the brand’s specialty. Known for their leather jackets and black jeans, their mission is to create singular, unique pieces that stand the test of time with their quality craftsmanship. Their philosophy is to create seasonless wardrobe items that are an optimal fit. Check out their show here.
Beckman’s College of Design
The Swedish design college serves as a “meeting point for creative and artistic progress with significant relevance to society and its development”. This collection is titled Trailblazer and it was created in collaboration with six international fashion brands – Marimekko, Matty Bovan, NomenNescio, Palmer//Harding, Per Götesson and Zandra Rhodes. Trailblazer is a combination of work between final year students who took 11 collection concepts from the aforementioned brands and made it their own. Check out the show here.
H&M Studio Vintage
H&M Studio’s SS21 collection is targeted towards those with a “playful free spirit who seek adventure and self-expression”. Inspired by the escapism and romanticism of fantasy tales and deep-sea voyages, this collection captures a carefree castaway feel. They use an electric colour palette of coral-orange, neon yellow mirror flashes of treasure and aquatic creatures, while neutral tones of beige and black keep the collection grounded onland. Their line also includes pieces from previous collections. Their collection will be available exclusively at Berlin’s Mitte and Stockholm’s Sergels Torg stores.
HOPE Stockholm
HOPE is a contemporary fashion brand that crafts progressive yet timeless designs using strong tailoring and attention to detail. Their items are meant to be explored in full assortment, rather than just one department. Their FW 2021 collection is a study in the “(re-)definition of the term space and its influence on the self; personal space vs. public space, local space vs. global space – all of which, given the present circumstances, have been given new meanings and annotations”. Exploring dualities, their collection is made from pure wools, silk rayon velvet, hammered organza and soft satin. Check out more at the Stockholm Fashion Week website.
Jennifer Blom
Created in 2010, Jennifer Blom is a brand focused on femininity, glamour, pleating and with a unique way of reading the female body. Their mission is to create “beautiful custom-made gala dresses for the red carpet”. This collection is titled “A Decade of Jennifer Blom” and it is dedicated to a sustainable future of fashion. Lazoschmidl
Founded in 2014 by Josef Lazo and Andreas Schmidl, this menswear brand is dedicated to fusing fashion design and literature. Each collection is developed from a script that determines the individual looks and respective garments. Scripts range from poems, to fictitious song lyrics, to short stories. Their FW 2021 collection is titled “CAKE” and it “ explores the visual identity that has been shaped by the way we dress – or have been dressed by our mothers“. The collection features cake paintings by Scott Csoke, corduroy ensembles, DIY denim, paisley prints and kid’s toy appliqués drawn by Humberto Cruz quote real-life memories. There’s also a return of the brand’s infamous ‘piss stain’ pants from Lazoschmidl’s very first collection entitled “Grand Poop” (2014). View it here.
Rodebjer
Founded in 2000 by Carin Rodebje, this womenswear brand is rooted in feminist and environmental values. Rodebjer uses mindful consumption habits to make her cult favorite signature slouchy suits, draped caftans and iconic prints. For her FW 2021 collection, Rodebje presented looks based on the idea of a wunderkammer-a cabinet of curiosities. The collection includes a range of outerwear featuring early transitional blanket coats, winter cover ups in recycled wools, and re-down. There’s also an assortment of warm clothing such as knitwear, a nylon turtleneck, and a recycled wool coat with an exaggerated faux fur collar, referencing a 60s silhouette, in all black or jacquard pattern. And for the warmer weather, there’s an assortment of dresses, skirts, and shirting. Check out this collection here.
Stylein
Stylein was founded in 2001 by designer Elin Alemda. The brand combines a timeless yet contemporary design expression using Scandinavian minimalism and fine fabrics. Their FW collection is based on a muse of who has left the springtime Swedish countryside for the vibrant Parisian pulse, where she lives her life in the evening and at night, rather than during the day. The collection embodies a vibrant and sensual vibe using long draped lengths in a monochrome and graphic color pallet with inexclusive fabrics with well-tailored cuts. See the show here.
Weekday
Founded in Sweden in 2002, Weekday is a modern and mindful fashion and denim brand celebrating creativity. Their presented collection is titled “The Weekday Plant Based Limited Edition” and features denim garments made with hemp fiber, sample, stock, damaged or vintage garments. The collection saw dye baths mixed with food waste like peel from pomegranate, avocado, red onion, rust, alum, copperas, salt and vinegar. The fabric and colors are made from natural waste and will be ready to buy starting next month. You can check out their fashion show here.
