Etro Brought Back Boho for the Spring/Summer 2022 Show

Etro’s Spring Summer 2022 collection is all about warm colors.

Etro wants to bring back boho-chic. Their new Summer Spring collection features an assortment of knit crop tops and low-rise loose-legged pants that are reminiscent of the late 2000s. They’re also embracing boho through mostly flowing garments. Skirts and dresses float down the runway along with cloaks.

Warm colors stole the show. Though there were hints of blues and blacks, the show centered on oranges and yellows with a few notes of pink. These colors took on large geometric patterns that recalled Etro’s start in paisley. Garments also included florals and stripes, but in more subdued arrangements than the geometric patterning.

But the colors didn’t stop at subdued oranges. Hints of gold emerged early in the show. Boho garments sometimes featured sparkles and gold plating. Later garments in the show featured fully gold clothe and sparkling skirts.

Along with garments, Etro focused on chunky jewelry. They showed large silver cuffed bracelets and upper armbands in addition to giant earrings. But oversizing didn’t stop at the jewelry. Etro featured oversized purses in warm colors, occasionally decorated with metal detailing.

But the show didn’t stop at the fashion trends. The final moments of the runway were accompanied by a circle of drummers beating on oil drums (a la Stomp) led by two men in the middle. For this last segment of the runway show all the models came out together for a final walk down the catwalk.

This collection fits into this year’s trend of looking back on the 2000s. But where other designers found inspiration in skater culture are the early 2000’s, Veronica Etro, who designed the company’s women’s line this Fall, looked at the latter part of the decade and took inspiration from other classic looks.
