Sergio Hudson brought in a colorful palette by continuing the neon trend while keeping elements from the previous season like mini dresses, suiting, and sexy silhouettes in the overall vibrance of the show. Hudson has a particular character in mind in his collections that we all seem to recognize and feel inspired to take after the spunky women we see in our lives or on the streets; she is a trendsetter who dresses for herself, she brings the energy, she exudes youth, and overall, she’s ballsy and feisty but you can’t help but want to be around her. 

In Hudson’s previous season for fall 2022 ready-to-wear, there were glimpses of the beloved character Fran Fine’s style from The Nanny. You see these references from the leopard-cropped shoulder-padded suit and matching mini skirt. Pleasantly we see her again in collection 11 with the tight fitted dresses, wild print, and the classic ‘90s neon suiting with black lining. The press release also connects to characters of similar style like Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Barbie!

“This collection is more playful than ever before. I wanted to excite people and show more range while also still doing what I am known for” says Hudson in the brand’s press release. 

The inspiration for this collection started when Hudson saw a mural that said “Believe” and found it to be created by artist Jason Naylor. The two collaborated to create a custom print that is seen throughout the collection. The two are on the same page design-wise with Naylor’s neon hues and high-spirited artistry and Hudson’s empowering and currently funky style. 

A new approach in this collection includes airbrushed t-shirts for the first time and a delightful standout incorporation of denim suiting, a modern and sexy take yet sophisticated with retro elements. An assortment of tweed pieces are presented with a twist that speaks to younger girls seeking a vintage design while remaining youthful in a way that connects to the younger generation’s wardrobe. 

There are a variety of gowns in a jersey knit that is visually lightweight for a convenient and comfortable night out while remaining sexy. Gowns that are effortless yet keep an allure speak to women’s needs as Sergio Hudson serves women.
