Alexander McQueen Invites You to Become a ‘McQueen Creator’

Get your artwork featured by the iconic brand.

A few weeks ago, Alexander McQueen announced its latest project called the “McQueen Creators” — an initiative that encourages creatives to create art during self-isolation.

This week, the coveted brand invites you to interpret or recreate your favorite design from its Fall/Winter 2020 menswear and Spring/Summer 2020 womenswear collections, with the concept of “Silhouettes” as the theme. Particular looks from these collections were posted on social media for inspiration.

“Find your sketchbook and chosen materials — charcoal, pencil, pastels or paints of any kind,” the caption said. “Sketch, illustrate or paint your favourite picture from the upcoming series of images.”

London-based abstract artist Howard Tangye is also joining the fun. For his collaboration with Alexander McQueen, Tangye submitted his own interpretation of a double-breasted wool overcoat from the AW20 menswear collection. His creative process for the multimedia portrait was featured on McQueen’s YouTube channel on April 24, along with a tutorial.

“I always say when I’m drawing, I’m drawing with feeling,” Tangye explained in the video. “Although I’m seeing, I’m also feeling the body.”

Participants can post their own creations on Instagram for a chance to be featured on Alexander McQueen’s Instagram feed. Simply add the hashtag #McQueenCreators into your caption, and tag @AlexanderMcQueen.
