Homme Plissé Issey Miyake’s SS21 Collection
The spring-summer collection embraces vibrant colors.
Homme Plissé Issey Miyake’s Spring-Summer 2021 collection is composed of 30 different vibrant colored looks inspired by the future.
The Japan based brand released a short film Meet Your New Self earlier this year highlighting the collection’s bright looks. Conceived by Miyake’s Creative Director Yusuke Kobayashi, the film is about people “discovering their new selves” by choosing different garments off a clothing rack.
Miyake’s upcoming collection embraces color, simplistic design and patterns effervescent of spring and summer feels. Seldom does a piece in this collection break the mold of a single colored or paired garment. But when a piece does the result is something uniquely uniform.
Breaking from other styles in the collection that ground themselves in single colored garments, this look not only embraces a multitude of colors but incorporates various patterns. Standing out in this look is Miyake’s tile-designed trousers made of yellow, red, green and blue colorways.
More on the traditional side of Miyake arrives this buttoned long sleeve top, similar to a shirt-sweater, detailed with horizontal and vertical imprints. Styled alongside the top are solid purple trousers also incorporating Miyake’s use of striped detail.
Layers of garment are frequent in Miyake’s collection, but nothing stands out more than this abstract colored overcoat. A light and airy material is covered in shades of spring such as blue, white and pink. Miyake styles this piece with shorts that appear white in this look but are available in numerous other colors.
