Maison Margiela Owner OTB Confirms Acquisition of Jil Sander
The group also owns luxury brands Diesel, Marni, and Viktor & Rolf.
Italian fashion group Only The Brave (OTB) has taken 100% hold of fashion label Jil Sanders after reported interest in acquiring the brand since January. Also the parent company of Maison Margiela, Diesel, Marni, and Viktor & Rolf, OTB is headed by entrepreneur Renzo Rosso.
Financial details are yet to be made public, but Jil Sander’s previous owner, Japanese group Onward Holdings, acquired the brand for 167 million euros in 2008. Sander herself left her eponymous brand in 2013 to pursue endeavors such as a Uniqlo partnership. Jil Sander’s creative direction remains in the hands of Luke and Lucie Meier.
“I have admired and respected Jil Sander since the fashion house was first established,” said Rosso. “Despite the changes of ownership and creative direction, the house has always stayed true to its founder’s vision, maintaining an absolute commitment to beauty, quality, and its signature minimalist approach. To be able to welcome this timeless jewel to our group of unique, unconventional labels is an honour and a long-term undertaking.”
