Turns Out Louis Vuitton’s ‘Pizza Box’ Is Not Actually for Pizza
The new Fall/Winter 2021 accessory is meant for carrying music, not food.
Trash cans, skateboards, band-aids: the list of unusual items covered in the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram pattern is long. The latest addition is the Pizza Box, presented as part of the Men’s Fall/Winter 2021 lineup. However, the piece is not meant for food at all: the “box” is actually a case for carrying vinyl records and other music-related accessories.
At roughly 14 x 14 inches, the slim box does look like the perfect size for carrying a tasty pie inside, especially considering it also doesn’t have any handles. But instead of being a flappy cardboard case bearing your favorite spot’s phone number, the Louis Vuitton Pizza Box features the house’s signature cowhide leather canvas with the phrase “LV SOUND DESIGN AND RECORD CLUB” printed in white on the lid. Meaning you’ll probably want to keep it away from any pepperoni-infused grease.
The case also features a leather closure with gold-color hardware, along with minimal details to keep records, discs and other accessories secure inside. According to the product description, the Pizza Box draws inspiration from music and travel culture, with details reminiscent of traditional Louis Vuitton trunks.
The Louis Vuitton Pizza Box is listed for $2,090 on the house’s official website, but it’s currently not available for purchase online – it will likely be available exclusively at physical Louis Vuitton boutiques.
Louis Vuitton recently introduced its Fall 2021 capsule collection, which was inspired by a 1914 greetings card written by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the House’s founder. It featured an expressionist bouquet of flowers against a checkerboard background – which Virgil Abloh translated into a lineup of urban chic jackets, suits, and more.
