Adidas’ Y-3 Drops Chapter 2 of Fall/Winter 2021 Collection

The brand’s latest collaborative line with Yohji Yamamoto combines nature-inspired elements and technology.

Y-3, Adidas and Yohji Yamamoto’s line, has just introduced the second chapter of its Fall/Winter 2021 collection, expanding on the city-to-nature theme. The lineup combines and explores insulation and innovation with surreal and subversive touches, with a neutral palette of black, white, and grey along with focal warm touches of red and orange.

Set in a 3D-VFX mountainous snowscape, the collection is showcased on animated avatars created based on biometric data of real actors – resulting in dynamic, game-like visuals. As we step into the coldest season, the collection takes inspiration from the concept of “cocoon,” aiming to create an invisible forcefield that invites the wearer to a fantastical journey.

The apparel offerings blend functionality and contemporary aesthetics, blending ergonomic elements with cushioned silhouettes that embrace the wearer. The collection includes knitwear, downs, and relaxed trousers, with pieces that feature zine-inspired graphic prints. Caps, oversized beanies, scarves, belts, bags, and cocoon hooded hats make up the accessories lineup – including a red pouch bag featuring elastic details and the line’s logo at the front.

For footwear, Chapter 2 reimagines some of Y-3’s most iconic styles, such as the Y-3 GRIP, the Y-3 HICHO, and the Y-3 FORUM HI OG, which are now featured in white leather with light blue details.

Other Y-3 classics like the Y-3 IDOSO BOOST, the Y-3 KAIWA, and the Y-3 RUNNER 4D IOW are updated in white, while performance-inspired sneakers like the Y-3 ORISAN, the Y-3 SHIKU RUN, and the Y-3 ULTRABOOST 21 now come with new bold orange detailing.
