Skip Marley Wraps Up the Summer with One Last Feel-Good Beat
Ahead of his debut album, the Jamaican-born artist teams up with Ayra Starr in new addictive track.
Beating the clock with one last summer jam before the sunny season comes to end is two-time Grammy nominated artist Skip Marley, whose new single “Jane”, featuring Afropop icon Ayra Starr, dropped earlier this week. Pulsing with a catchy drumbeat, the uplifting instrumentals make way for Skip’s crisp, dreamy vocals over a reggae-infused track, a hint of what’s to come in Skip’s debut album that is currently in the works.
Directed by Mid Jordan, the visuals for “Jane” exude the same carefree nature as the Skip’s hopeful lyrics. “Always been there for me, always take care of me, always my therapy,” the 26-year-old sings alongside Ayra, surrounded by friends in a tropical Miami oasis. Reflecting on the song, Skip shares: “‘Jane’ is really about finding that thing in your life to keep you balanced and free from stress. It was a good common ground for Ayra and I to instantly connect and set the vibe.”
“Jane” follows an impressive musical history for the young artist, whose global hit “Slow Down” with Grammy winning artist H.E.R. climbed 200 million global streams to break several records. Earning Skip a total number of streams exceeding 440 million, the 2020 release marked the first time a Jamaican-born artist reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Adult R&B chart.
As his new release gains traction with fans, Skip’s North American festival tour is in full swing, with the artist’s headlining CHANGE TOUR commencing September 21 in Toronto. Tickets and more information on Skip Marley’s upcoming performances can be found online.
