A New Way to See: Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster

Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster come together to reimagine luxury eyewear.

In a collaboration of heavyweights, Haute Couture House Maison Margiela, and luxury eyewear brand Gentle Monster have come together to launch a new collection of sunglasses and optical frames. With eleven original designs, the line encapsulates both brands’ shared prioritization of self-expression and creativity, all while celebrating high-quality craftsmanship. 

The androgynous designs were created at the hand of creative director John Galliano and Gentle Monster, and are rooted in the concepts of the French atelier. The Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster collaboration includes structured acetate frames in a palette of black, white, gray, tortoiseshell, and translucent colors. Prices start at $320 and end at $680. 

For those looking to make a statement, there’s the MM003 – an aviator silhouette that can be worn both as a headband or a tiara back-to-front, revealing the iconic Maison Margiela logo. Subtler designs include the MM005, a classic oval shape with a subtle gray and white tortoiseshell acetate pattern. 

The collection’s packaging reimagines Maison Margiela’s “Glam Slam” clutch through the aesthetics of Gentle Monster and reflects the collaborators’ passion for pushing the boundaries of design. 

In honor of the collection’s worldwide release on Feb. 28, pop-ups will be held in seven cities around the world, including New York, Seoul, and London. The release will be sold at Gentle Monster and Maison Margiela, both in stores and online, as well as at select global retailers.
