In a tribute to Hubert de Givenchy’s summers of luxury at Le Clos in the South of France, Matthew M. Williams’, creative director of Givenchy, designed a stunning beachwear capsule. Givenchy Plage fuses together the glamor of summering on the French coast and Williams’ own California roots.

The House’s archives from 1952  –  the year its first Haute Couture collection was released – served as inspiration for the pieces, which honor Givenchy’s time-honored swimwear tradition. Daring cutouts, beach club staples, and delicately woven macrame come together, while classic pearls and pink rub elbows with edgier chain motifs. In other words, the collection exudes sensuality, while maintaining a relaxed look.

Seasonal twists on accessories and new variations of tried and true Givenchy prints stand out, such as the “straw basket” rendition of the House’s Voyou bag and some iconic Marshmallow wedges.

Looking to the future, a selection of men’s and women’s swimwear will be tagged with a QR code detailing care and repair instructions, as well as any sourcing, materials or lifestyle analysis. With this, Givenchy shows its commitment to transparency and durability.

The Givenchy Plage capsule collection is available beginning today on givenchy.com, starting with the Voyou Basket Bag!
