Giorgio Armani beat the heat with elegant style and confidence for the brand’s Spring Menswear 2024 collection show, “Weaving a Story,” in Milan. Armani, alarmed by trendy collections with short expiration dates, used the show as means to exemplify the separation between fashion and style.
Focused on style, the summer pieces combine the necessary aspects of sophistication, lightness, and confidence. All three come together through a constant process of writing and rewriting, focused on weaving the new storylines of the present together with some of the brand’s staples. Signature looks were met with Armani’s own large signature on the back wall, written by a massive pencil at the end of the runway.
The show demonstrated the importance of keeping your cool, with models walking at a slow and leisurely pace, while lightweight and breathable fabrics including silk and linen bounced around in the form of loose-fitting jackets, scarves, shirts, and pants. With jackets and blazers unbuttoned, the runway radiated comfort to the audience while never needing to expose much of the body.
Straw hats were mainly held at models’ sides, as Armani focused on the street style rather than a day at the beach. Even still, sandals made their appearance among the footwear, which also included loafers and shoes.
Colors stayed light and fresh, with natural tones met with blues and earthy browns, and symmetry-based prints took inspiration from knots and geometric rhythm. All together, the looks rejected seasonal trends for timeless style, and kept suit-silhouettes that can conquer Milan’s summer months.
