First launched in 2016, Spanish luxury brand Loewe is back for the 7th year in a row of the their Loewe Foundation Craft Prize. Developed by creative director Jonathan Anderson, the foundation aims to give a platform for artists all over the globe to have their work seen and appreciated, seemingly as an homage to Loewe’s own creative beginnings as a collective craft workshop in 1846.

Anderson stated, “Craft is always going to be modern. It is about creating objects that have a formula of their own and speak their own language, creating a dialogue that didn’t exist before. It is about newness as much as it is about tradition.”

The competition is stiff with the 2023 edition receiving over 2,700 total submissions from over 100 countries and the number is only expected to grow for 2024. Artists are encouraged to send in their submissions at loewecraftprize.com

The panel of judges will be composed of influential artists, essayists, designers, and curators who will select a shortlist of 30 submissions to be considered for the 50,000 euro prize and 10,000 euro prizes for 2 special mentions. Additionally, in a “student becomes the master” rite of passage, 2023 finalists, glass artist, and metal artist Kaori Juzu, will return as panelists.

The winner of the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2024 will be announced in Spring 2024 at the Paris opening ceremony.
