A little less conversation and a little more action was gracefully put in place for Euphoria star Jacob Elordi’s costumes in the new A24 film, Priscilla, directed by Sofia Coppola. Entirely custom-made, Valentino helms the looks creatively designed by the house’s revered creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. To complete the “custom” designs, every look includes a hand-sewn “Valentino for Jacob Elordi” tag.
In true Presley fashion, the garment selection reflects the style DNA of the late King of Rock’s preference for fully coordinated outfits, whether he was lounging about or performing in front of his dedicated fans. Piccioli’s designs span from cozy cable knit sweaters and contrast-band cardigans coated in indulgent cashmere, while sleek polos are done up in extra fine wool. Elvis was a color fanatic, each piece echoing his taste in a spectrum of colors from light ivory to camel and navy, simultaneously reflecting the time period.
The film, focusing on Priscilla Presley’s point of view, exhibits a selection of suits and jacket-and-pant combinations highlighting era-specific details that are directly derived from Elvis’s life. Flap-pocket mohair suits are rendered in blue and bordeaux, along with a rich palette of cream and dark shades.
