A new season can mean a plethora of new things, but for Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmons, the idea that fashion and creativity can go out of style is out of the question. Comparable to last season, Spring/Summer 2025 is a hot plate of actuality, blending the illogical with the achievable. Dubbed “Infinite Present”, the newest collection is weird and wonderful at the same time, whilst raising a few inquiries.

“A sequence of concurrent realities are here dedications to the individual, every look a unique reflection of their present”, as reported in the collection notes. “There is a plurality of Prada, elements from different eras coexisting simultaneously to challenge any theory of chronology, creating impossible contradictions, points of difference. The notion of the superhero becomes a representation of the centrality of the individual, their agency, and of the power of creativity as a means to transform. Everything changes.”

Keeping in line with house codes and regulations (aka not abiding by trends), garments are all over the place in the best way possible, making the collection a stylist’s paradise—from beaded skirts, vibrant trench coats, and cargo tube tops with pockets for stashing away your go-to Prada Beauty lip balm or pack of chewing gum to short dresses that are styled under suede jackets with an array of skirts ranging from distressed midis to 3D a-lines.

Up top, the tops in the collection are adorned with ties reminiscent of the ’40s and ’50s, while ruffled tube silhouettes pair perfectly with staple Prada cardigans. Long sleeves are like butter, smooth, and melted into the shape, while sleeveless button-ups emblazoned with florals are complete by a Peter Pan collar from the ’20s. There is a DIY aspect that can be noted in giant grommet skirts and zig-zig details on sleeves, further emphasizing Miuccia Prada and Raf Simmon’s ability to stick out from the crowd.

In the covetable outerwear department, canvas jackets and windbreakers are dressed up with silver-sequined dresses, and faux-fur coats are styled bare underneath, as classic Prada silhouettes like the bomber jacket gets paired over sharp collared dress shirts and polos. Mod cape coats make a standalone ensemble, and simplistic jackets are leveled up with larger buttons and textiles that are presented in sheer, silk, fringed leather, or fuzzy wool.

Accessories can arguably take the cake for MVP in this collection, as demonstrated by the trompe l’oeil belts harnessed at the torso. Each look is accompanied by a different shoe, adding a bit of personality to the mundane. Hats are shaped like UFOs- bringing a futuristic element to the surface. Bug-eyed sunglasses are random yet fun, a distraction from what we see online vs. in real life.

Prada’s influence on the industry is incomparable, and with every collection, the Italian fashion house creates a reinvigorated meaning for ready-to-wear. Spring/Summer 2025 urges us to keep fashion peculiar; holding onto the past, and reaching out for the future.
