In a tribute to the esteemed German photographer, Peter Lindbergh (1944-2019), La Galerie Dior presents an exhibition featuring over 100 photos taken by Lindbergh between 1988 and 2018 as part of a project intended to capture the trajectory of the Dior silhouette.

The black and white shots emblematic of Lindbergh’s work (yes, the iconic Kate Moss smoking a cigarette pic is his) capture a variety of Dior pieces as epitomes of elegance standing firm amongst the chaos of New York City streets.

Lindbergh’s previous work has cemented him as one of high fashion’s most renowned photographers and visionaries, boasting a portfolio with “The Big Five” supermodels (Campbell, Crawford, Evangelista, Turlington, Schiffer) and remaining a veteran of Harper’s BAZAAR and Vogue

“While Haute couture is closely linked with an idea of perfection and the mastery of every detail,” Peter Lindbergh told Dior at the time, “I wanted to transport 70 years of Dior creations to an unexpected place.”

And transport them he did. 70 years of archival Dior pieces, snagged from the climate-controlled confines of the fashion house’s Paris headquarters, flew across international waters to grace the gritty streets of New York’s Times Square and the lenses of Lindbergh’s camera.

The exhibition will be open to the public from October 17, 2024 to May 4, 2025 at La Galerie Dior. The images are also available in a two volume book set.
