In an homage to its five-year-long creative collaboration with the legendary The Velvet Underground, Jacques Marie Mage will release a limited-edition silver monograph box set with four unique styles of glasses, each heavily influenced by the eyewear worn by the band’s members Nico, Lou Reed, and John Cale.

Sophisticated and sleek, the Platinum Box Set recalls the aluminum interior of Andy Warhol’s Factory, where the Exploding Plastic Inevitable (a 60s drug-fueled series of multimedia showcases) first witnessed The Velvet Underground’s growing infamy. The metallic box opens to four limited-edition glasses, each paired with the custom microfiber cleaning cloth they originally debuted with, and contains a silver-colored copy of 1969: The Velvet Underground Live with Lou Reed. The double LP, which hasn’t been reissued since the 1970s, heightens the set’s rarity.

The limited-edition series, handcrafted in Japan and Italy, synthesizes the geometrics of Art Deco with the minimalism of futuristic design. The FATALE (2022), the line’s sole titanium piece, is cloaked in silver with gold temple-tip embellishments, forging a sleek, yet timeless, impression. The remaining eyewearーWHITE LIGHT (2020), SQUEEZE (2021), and VICIOUS (2023)ーfeatures three unique plant-based acetate styles, each with polished black frames and custom, triple-laminated black temples, gold-foiled stamp accents and metallic silver interiors adorning its sides. Balancing form and function, each piece boasts mirror lenses and JMM’s signature metal embellishments in silver.
