Rich in identity, ZEGNA’s A/W ’25 collection, Vellus Aureum, follows a habitual and familial coziness that is expertly authentic and emotionally executed. Each piece feels as though it’s given a new life, entrusted to explore the modern world, worn just as a new torch is carried.
As a fashion house inherently connected to its craftsmanship of fabrics, founded on its search for the world’s most superior wools, the Autumn Winter 2025 collection follows suit.
The legend of Vellus Aureum, the Golden Fleece, is thoughtfully seeded throughout each design. Represented by a winged ram, it’s a tale of determination and exploration, a mindset to which the collection pays homage.
As the models walk through the grass-laid hills that compose the runway grounds, a nod to the Australian landscapes, a river of harmonious warm browns, cool greys, deep rich blacks, lustrous Everest greens, and monochromatic terracotta maroons flood the runway. A densely textured palette of woodsy neutrals glow through cashmere blends of wool and cotton corduroy.
Throughout the collection are thick knits that billow at the sleeve but stiffen at the collar, roomy supple suits refined with two button closures, and a sea of jackets and coats with double layered lapels, technical sharp leather tailoring, and generous pockets, with an intentional relaxing slope, fit for the comfort and ease of any hand.
The proportions are playfully defined—oversized silhouettes mesh softness with sophistication, creating a collection of cozy, luxurious looks. Knits are weaved throughout, taking on various forms as we watch the designs evolve from airy, light button-downs and wool grey suits to boxy polished leathers and monochromatic black ensembles.
Artistic Director Alessandro Sartori, explores the collaboration of innovation and tradition, paving a path that is continuous in evolution but reflective.
“In this collection, items are nonchalantly chosen and spontaneously mixed, recounting an encounter of generations in the name of Italian style,” says Alessandro Sartori. “The man I have in mind has raided a wardrobe in which pieces have been collected over the decades for their emotional and material value. Working with washed wools and Vellus Aureum we have been able to transfer lived life into the garments.”
