This week marks a seismic moment in new music: five artists, five distinct comebacks, and one collective exhale from fans across the globe. From BLACKPINK’s explosive return to the main stage to Justin Bieber’s moody, late-night genre shift, from Deftones’ thunderous re-entry to Geese’s spiraling indie revival and Luca Eck’s subversive underground ascent—these new releases stretch across genres, scenes, and continents. What they share is a sense of reinvention, of artists coming back not just to be heard, but to push the sound forward.

JUSTIN BIEBER “SWAG”

Nearly four years since Justice, Bieber dropped Swag unannounced on July  11th. The 21-track album features guest verses from Gunna, Sexyy Red, Lil B, Cash Cobain, and comedian Druski, with production from Dijon, Mk.gee, Knox Fortune, and even Daniel Caesar. Tapping into fatherhood, marriage, and fame, tracks like “Dadz Love” and “Walking Away” include intimate nods to his wife Hailey and son Jack, while collaborators Dijon, 2 Chainz, Druski, and Lil B expand the album’s sonic palette. Swag strips Bieber’s pop polish for a darker, more textured sound—equal parts fatherhood confessional and club afterburn. Gone are the gospel hooks and chart-chasing features—Swag trades sheen for grit, reintroducing Bieber as a restless creative rather than a pop product.

BLACKPINK “jump”

BLACKPINK is back—and louder than ever. Released on July 11th to coincide with the launch of their highly anticipated Deadline World Tour, the explosive new single “Jump” marks the group’s first release as a unit since August 2023. Co-produced by hitmaker Diplo and paired with a high-octane music video helmed by Dave Meyers, “Jump” hits with maximalist force—layers of trap-pop, electric visuals, and stadium-sized swagger.

DEFTONES “MY MIND IS A MOUNTAIN”

Their first single in five years, “my mind is a mountain” is heavy, meditative, and unmistakably Deftones—part lullaby, part landslide. The single is a first bite before the release of their new album on August 22nd. Recorded with veteran producer Nick Raskulinecz in Malibu, Joshua Tree, and Nashville, preserving their signature blend of heavy riffing and dreamlike atmosphere.

GEESE “TAXES”

Two years after the cosmic chaos of 3D Country, Geese return with “Taxes”—a wiry, spiraling anthem that sounds like Talking Heads caught in a panic spiral. Produced by Kenny Beats, the track crackles with nervous energy, self-awareness, and the sense that the walls are closing in—but the band’s grip on groove is tighter than ever. It’s unhinged and totally alive. “Taxes” is Geese’s first single since their 2023 album 3D Country, released July 8, 2025 via Partisan Records. It’s the lead track from their upcoming third studio album Getting Killed, due September 26. The song was recorded during a one-month session in Los Angeles with producer Kenny Beats, and arrives alongside a North American tour announcement and a frenetic music video.

LUCA ECK “IMPORTANT MESSAGE” featuring Mainline Magic Orchestra

Luca Eck returns from a creative high following the release of their sophomore EP, CONSUMED, which dropped on July 19, 2024. Based in Berlin, the multi-hyphenate producer and artist weaves together techno, perreo, and classical elements on their latest single, “Important Message”—a collaboration with Catalonia’s genre-bending electronic trio, Mainline Magic Orchestra. Known for their theatrical live shows and playful, avant-garde sound, Mainline have become central figures in Spain’s underground scene, reclaiming eccentricity and experimentation on the dancefloor.

The fever dream of a music video — shot in a discreet, pay-by-the-hour sex hotel in Barcelona — features surreal costumes, over-the-top performances, and a mash-up of Temucore erotica and DIY pop-star fantasy. Known for their genre-blurring sound and fierce creative vision, Luca is part of a new wave reshaping the face of electronic music in Berlin’s underground. With fewer than 10% of music producers identifying as women or genderqueer, Luca’s work is as much about representation as it is innovation. Following the success of their EP, CONSUMED, and a sold-out show at Berlin’s Trauma Bar und Kino, “Important Message” is the next chapter in Luca Eck’s rise — a future-facing anthem that doesn’t hold back.
