UK-born singer, songwriter, and producer Robin Skinner, known as Cavetown, signals a new chapter with the release of his single Baby Spoon. Paired with an intimate, dreamlike music video, the track offers the first glimpse of what’s ahead for the indie-pop artist. The release also comes with the news of his signing to Futures Music Group, the joint venture between Neon Gold and Avenue A Records, home to Mt. Joy, Phantogram, and Barns Courtney.
The signing caps an eighteen-month run that has seen six Cavetown singles earn RIAA Platinum certification. In that time, he has taken the stage at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and Lollapalooza, and toured with AJR, Pierce the Veil, Mother Mother, and more.

“From my earliest days writing songs in Cambridge, I’ve been drawn to creating a space where people can feel understood,” Skinner says. “My catalog moves from lo-fi bedroom recordings to richer, self-produced pop, but at its core it’s always been about what I call ‘soft hands offering understanding when the world felt too sharp.’ ‘Baby Spoon’ is a reminder to my partner that I’ll always be there to talk to her and make her feel better. Growing up as a transmasc guy, I went through a phase of overdoing masculinity because I thought that’s what was expected of me. With her, I can be delicate, soft — I can be the baby spoon.”
Beyond the studio, Skinner’s This Is Home initiative has raised over $650,000 for LGBTQ+ organizations. That same spirit of care and connection is woven into Baby Spoon, now streaming on all platforms.
