Mother is back! Ahead of the artist’s sold-out tour, Ethel Cain has released her highly anticipated sophomore album titled Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You. This release follows the album’s leading singles Fuck Me Eyes and Nettles—both of which, since their release, have been critically acclaimed, attaining millions of streams.
This is not just any Ethel Cain album—Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You recounts Ethel’s first love, serving as the prequel to the artist’s 2022 debut album Preacher’s Daughter. The new album, produced and recorded by the artist over the past year, retells the laden romance as the songs themselves have been written over the span of Ethel Cain’s career, the pseudonym first appearing in 2019.
Hayden Anhedönia, the creator and multidisciplinary artist behind the stage name, grew up teaching herself how to produce at home, going on to singlehandedly write, produce, record, and mix her acclaimed 2021 EP Inbred from the basement of the old church where she lived.
In the following week, Cain is embarking on the sold-out “Willoughby Tucker Forever” tour, performing the highly anticipated album in over 40 cities across North America and Europe—including performances at New York’s Radio City Musical Hall and Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre this September.
