“I believe in blurring the lines between art and fashion,” Martin Margiela once said. This conviction continues to shape the Maison today with the introduction of Line 2. Debuting this September, the project extends Margiela’s iconic numeric coding system, which since 1997 has served as both a design language and an index of the house’s diverse lines. For the first time, the number 2 enters this mythology, chosen to embody the duality of two minds meeting to create something new.
Conceived as a figurative white-painted canvas, Line 2 serves as a platform for interdisciplinary encounters, staging cultural exchanges across formats. From installations and talks to campaigns. Events under this new line are structured around a symbolic relationship with the number 2, which can be found in dates, visuals, and locations.

The inaugural chapter brings together visual artist Heemin Chung and sound artist Joyul, collaborating for the first time under the Maison’s umbrella. Their installation, Elsewhere, Rhema, Open Torso, draws inspiration from the Autumn-Winter 2025 collection, exploring memory and transformation through immersive sound and image.
Line 2 reaffirms Maison Margiela’s role as a cultural provocateur, transforming numbers into narratives and fashion into dialogue. The work will be showcased at the Hannam flagship in Seoul, running from September 3 to 28, 2025.
