Self-Creation takes center stage at the Sandy Liang Spring/Summer 2026 collection, with a testament to expression portrayed through objects and mementos, fantasies and realities. Inspired by the 5th Avenue Heiress and dollhouse artist Huguette Clark, as well as the animated film Thumbelina and the simulation game The Sims, Liang explores life as it takes form through treasured thingamabobs and cherished whatchamacallits.

The collection begins by exploring themes of fantasy, packaged both big and small. Floral ‘princess’ dresses are paired with tabis, which are adorned with patterns of spring onions and dancing bunnies. Liang wishes precisely to dress “a new generation of Chinese grandmas–animated by the idea that it’s less about what you wear and more about how you put yourself together.”

As fantasy flutters away, sweet objects are displayed next. ‘Prized possessions’ such as a lost button emerges suddenly much larger, and on the tip of a sandal. Dollhouse drapes are consciously placed on the front of a butter-yellow lace dress. The infatuation with a beloved object is boldly displayed for all to admire.

As the collection comes to a close, Liang leaves attendees with care. Garment care tags are deliberately placed on the exterior of pieces, leaving a message for onlookers to discover. “Ah, Forgive Me for My 1st Kiss,” one reads as it waves like a flag against a knee-length skirt patterned with a collage of Picsart-esque photographs. These cheeky messages act as reminders to live playfully, and without regret.
