At Terminal Warehouse in Chelsea, the sun rose on Michael Kors’ desert-hued new collection. Fringe accessories and flowing tunics swayed with each step down the runway, evoking a sense of ease. The venue reflected the collection’s themes of escapism with terracotta couches and an assortment of cacti, drawing inspiration from Kors’ own beach house.

Relaxed silhouettes and earth tones defined the presentation while caftans and suede evoked the American West. Models including Anok Yai, Alex Consani, and Paloma Elsesser took to the runway, watched by the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Suki Waterhouse, and Olivia Munn from the front row.
An array of statement necklaces were revealed, from large metal pendants to wallets you can wear around your neck. Desert-coastal seemed to be the memo — sheer, lightweight skirts with subtle draping imparted a breezy, laissez-faire attitude on the collection.

“The simple truth is that escapism helps us tremendously,” Kors said in a statement. “So many of us live urban lives, and when you travel, you learn about yourself, you learn about other people, you learn about life. It’s nature that always knocks us out, but balanced with elegance and sophistication — that’s everything I want this collection to convey.”
The runway became a brief getaway from New York’s busy streets, reflecting relaxed elegance in everything from the collection’s caftans to its mules.
