Matières Fécales SS26 Sends a Love Letter to ‘Hannah’

The brand’s sophomore collection uses the motif of a rose to explore beauty, decay, and defiance

Inspired by the most profound human emotion, love, Steven Raj Bhaskaran presents Matières Fécales Spring/Summer 2026 collection titled ‘Hannah’, as a love letter to his partner Hannah Rose Dalton. The brand’s sophomore collection was shown at Place Vendôme and explored visions of beauty and human imperfection, drawing from Hannah’s middle name, Rose, as a symbol for the circle of life and death.

The show began with sculpted tailored looks made from pink duchess silk satin that mimicked the sharpness of armor while amplifying the soft curves of the female body. From déchiré tweed sets with tulle weaving to frayed denim looks in all-American blue, the collection covered a varied understanding of beauty, decay, and defiance.

Transparent silk organza button-downs, razor-sharp tailored pants, and tailored overcoats exemplified the significance of architectural precision in garment making.

Hats made by milliner Stephen Jones added elegance to the looks, while Matières Fécales introduced their jewelry line with curved sterling silver ‘Needle’ pieces arranged on wrists and ears for pops of edge. Continuing their collaboration with Christian Louboutin, a revamp of the So Hannah heel was on display with a distorted Barbie look and Mary Jane strap.

For the finale, fantastical haute couture ball gowns personified dying roses, with black tulle exploding out of seams and busts lined with hand-dyed pink chiffon roses. Hannah closed the show in a deconstructed fading rose dress made from deadstock silk flowers knitted by Cecile Feilchenfeldt, marking the end by exposing the human obsession with finding beauty in ugliness and ugliness in beauty.
