The Damier motif is one of Louis Vuitton’s earliest signatures, first introduced in 1888 by Georges Vuitton as a checkerboard canvas pattern that preceded the now-iconic Monogram. Its name, meaning “checkerboard” in French, symbolized precision, craftsmanship, and modernity. Over a century later, the motif has evolved beyond leather goods, finding new form in watchmaking, ready-to-wear, and fine jewelry.

Introduced in 2024, Le Damier de Louis Vuitton marked the Maison’s first fine-jewelry line dedicated entirely to the Damier motif, translating the historic 1888 checkerboard pattern into gold and diamonds through movement and proportion.

For 2025, the line expands with the introduction of pink gold, joining the existing yellow and white gold finishes and reaffirming its place among the Maison’s most versatile designs. Three new necklaces arrive in varying widths and finishes, their links individually hand-polished and assembled with the precision of a watch bracelet. Rings and bracelets broaden the range, with slim 3.5 mm and wide 5 mm versions designed for layering or contrast across tones.

The Damier motif remains integral to the collection, composed of gold squares with round diamond settings placed in angled frames to enhance light and articulation. Earrings and pendants in all three gold finishes complete the offering, including a smaller hoop and a single diamond pendant that reflect the collection’s geometric balance. The addition of pink gold brings warmth and tactility, opening new possibilities for styling while maintaining the clarity and discipline that define Louis Vuitton’s approach to modern jewelry design.
