From its first Peter Pan collar, the Caro Editions universe – quirky, feminine, whimsical – has been delightfully well-defined. Yet, somehow, the spring/summer 2027 collection is even more specifically Caro-coded than ever. “The starting point was actually going back to what works for Caro,” says founder Caroline Bille Brahe. “Last season it was more tailored pieces made in Copenhagen, but when people think about Caro Editions they think about embellishments, so I wanted it to be more about that.”

Lace, crystal, intricate embroidery – nearly every garment had a little (or a lot) of extra sauce. Even the denim is met with sweet lace. New this season is a hand-woven Indian Ecat fabric – the trouser and jacket-set that’s deliciously tactile and bohemian.

As ever, the show itself, which closed out CPHFW, was steeped in joy. “It’s actually quite a fun theme,” says Bille Brahe with a smile. “It’s girls going home from the club, so it’s very party-inspired.” Think the smudgy makeup and tousled hair that serves as the mark of an evening well spent. The sort of moments captured by paparazzi outside of Manhattan hotspots in the early aughts. “When I was younger I used to live in New York, and I would have fun dressing up,” says Bille Brahe. Fittingly, she brought some of her old pals into town to walk the show, including supermodel Erin Wasson.

These days Bille Brahe is decidedly more settled down – she and her celebrity chef husband Frederik Bille Brahe just had their fourth child. But last night was cause for celebration. Following the show, she and her guests popped over to Frederik’s beloved fashion week haunt Apollo Bar for an afterparty co-hosted by fellow designer Nicklas Skovgaard. It was a bittersweet evening – the very last party at Apollo before it closes its doors for good (fret not, the chef just opened a new restaurant, Daphne, a short bike ride away). Naturally, as we made our way home, makeup smudged, hair askew, we looked not unlike the models who graced the Caro runway just hours before.
