Inside Tequila Don Julio’s New Artist Edition Bottle, Debuting at NYFW Tonight

The Mexican designer brings his distinctive vision to Don Julio’s Día de Muertos campaign

Tequila Don Julio has a history of turning its bottles into art objects, and its latest collaboration is no exception. The brand has partnered with Mexican designer Patricio Campillo to create the newest Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino Artist Edition Bottle, which makes its official debut tonight at CAMPILLO’s SS27 runway show during New York Fashion Week.

The limited-edition bottle takes its inspiration from El Puente Eterno—The Eternal Bridge—the brand’s new global Día de Muertos campaign built around the marigold bridge, or cempasúchil, a symbol believed to guide loved ones home during the holiday. Campillo’s artwork depicts two souls reunited through the tequila itself, using the liquid as a metaphorical bridge—a design that reflects his ongoing ability to reinterpret Mexican heritage through a contemporary lens without losing the traditions that anchor it.

The collaboration exists within a broader creative framework shaped by acclaimed Mexican-American designer Willy Chavarria, who served as Creative Director for the El Puente Eterno campaign. Chavarria, who designed the previous two Artist Edition Bottles and has become an integral creative partner to the brand, took on an expanded role here—overseeing the campaign’s overall vision and its cinematic storytelling.

The tequila itself is worth knowing about. Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino was pioneered by founder Don Julio González as the world’s first Cristalino Añejo—a category he essentially invented. It combines the richness of an Añejo with the crispness of a Blanco, with notes of vanilla, honey, and toasted oak. At $69.99 for a 750ml bottle, the Artist Edition is available at select retailers nationwide and online via TheBar.com, ReserveBar, and Caskers, as well as in Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.

Tonight’s runway show at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport—set against the East River with the Brooklyn Bridge as its backdrop—marks the first public expression of El Puente Eterno, featuring a cempasúchil installation and cocktails from Bar Mauro, the Mexico City bar currently ranked No. 1 in Mexico by World’s 50 Best. Their contribution: the Buenos Días, a cempasúchil-infused cocktail designed specifically around the Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino.

Fashion, tequila, and Día de Muertos tradition walk into a runway show. We’re into it.
