Metamorphosis. The defining word of Thom Browne’s Spring 2027 collection. It was a recognition and culmination of 25 years. It’s a portrait of a spring garden, complete with vibrant colors, butterfly embroidery, and patterns. The collection takes inspiration straight from nature. Silk, tweed, and plaids mimic the patterns of beetles, ladybugs, and frogs. It may seem an unusual inspiration, but it naturally builds on the aesthetics of Thom Browne.

Classic elements of the brand still remain. There is meticulous tailoring, uniform-style dressing, and the preppiness familiar to the brand. Thom Browne began as a small suit shop, a background that has retained importance throughout his career. Now, the brand goes far beyond suits but maintains an aesthetic that recalls these roots.

Accessories built out the storyline that inspired the collection. A grasshopper clutch came in pink, orange, yellow, and green, while stitched panels of leather created the beetle attaché cases. Crystals on shoes formed images of bugs. Next came the black widow. With a veil and the distinctive red marking, the look stood out from the rest as a transition. Finally, various looks inspired by butterflies closed out the show. Each design slowly spread its wings, welcoming in the change. By the final look, the metamorphosis was complete.
