Morgenthal Frederics Is Ready to Be Seen

With Heritage in Motion, creative directors John Juniper and Jeff Solorio usher the New York eyewear house into a new era, balancing more than a century of craftsmanship with a bolder contemporary vision
Glasses are easy to overlook. We pay attention to shoes, denim washes, and jewelry, but eyewear deserves just as much consideration. After all, as essential as glasses are to how we see, they are equally essential to how we are seen.
Enter Morgenthal Frederics. Founded in New York, the luxury eyewear brand has quietly cultivated a devoted following, with a history that places it at the intersection of craftsmanship and culture. It’s opticians have fitted cultural icons including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Andy Warhol, while its frames have been worn by Beyoncé, Michelle Obama, and, in a distinctly New York fashion, Spike Lee during his regular court side appearances.

Now under the creative direction of eyewear veterans John Juniper and Jeff Solorio, Morgenthal Frederics is entering a new era with the debut of their first collection and campaign, Heritage in Motion.
Best known for its natural buffalo horn frames, the brand has long built its reputation on distinctive materials and meticulous craftsmanship. With Heritage in Motion, Juniper and Solorio bring that legacy into conversation with a more contemporary vision. Finely sculpted silhouettes, assertive proportions, intricate metalwork, and new signature details offer a fresh perspective on the future of a brand with more than a century of history.

“What draws us to Morgenthal Frederics is that it has more than a hundred years of history, yet creatively it still feels like a clean slate,” say Juniper and Solorio. “There’s a great team around the brand, a lot of support, and no unnecessary guardrails. That gives us the freedom to build something beautiful at the highest level—and that’s what excites us.”
A clean slate, then, but one backed by 113 years of history. With Heritage in Motion, Morgenthal Frederics is poised to move beyond its quietly cultivated following and into a bolder chapter of its own making. Because eyewear doesn’t need to shout to make a statement. The right pair speaks for itself.
