MACzine’s Cover Star: The One and Only Lisa Barlow

MAC Cosmetics’ new publication and the fabulous front page
You know her, you love her, it’s Lisa Barlow, an icon of the Housewives of Salt Lake City. Adding to her resume that is already filled with various business endeavors as an entrepreneur, she is now the cover star of MAC Cosmetics own publication, MACzine, issue 11.
MACzine is the brand’s fully digital, “social-first expression of fashion, beauty, culture and artistry.” The launch highlights and features two of Lisa’s favorite looks. Lisa’s OG MAC Lip, which includes the Whirl Lip Pencil and Velvet Teddy Lipstick, as well as the Barely Barlow, including the Dervish Lip Pencil and Honeylove Lipstick. “I have so many go-to lip combos. I love Velvet Teddy lipstick, and the different variations of Velvet Teddy, too. It really depends on my vibe,” Lisa said. “I love Soar, Whirl, Dervish Lip Liners. People grossly underestimate the importance of a killer lip line, you have to use a combo.”
Working with Lisa was beyond what MAC could have dreamed. “What I love about Lisa is that her relationship with MAC is real. She knows what she loves, owns her signature look, and isn’t afraid to make it her own,” Nicola Formichetti, MAC Glocal Creative Director, said. “With MACzine, we’re celebrating those authentic connections between beauty and culture, and the products that become part of someone’s personal identity. Sometimes, a lip liner is more than a product – it’s part of your signature.”
Lisa’s admiration for MAC is clear. “Being on the cover of MACzine is like nothing out of my wildest dreams. I have been the biggest lover of MAC makeup since the 90s,” Lisa said. “I walked block upon block to get the first ever-collab with RuPaul and it’s just surreal that, and kinda kismet, that we’re partnered together now.”
The cosmetic brand is making waves with the launch of their digital publication, as they always have. “I love everything about MAC. Back before the age of concierge glam, if you wanted the best makeup, you knew you were going to the MAC counter, you were going to work with a MAC Artist, and you were going to get the perfect look,” Lisa said. “The heavy pigments, the beautiful colours, the consistency, the way the brand formulates each one of the products, there’s so many reasons to go back to MAC.”
