’90s Revival: Sandy Liang x Vans
Sandy Liang channels her grandma and her childhood in her third collaboration with Vans.
Sandy Liang’s third collaboration with Vans is all about the ’90s. The New York-based designer announced the collaboration on Wednesday, set to launch Jan. 28. The Sandy Liang x Vans collection features classic Vans shoe styles like the Sk8-Hi Platform 2.0, the Style 73 DX, and the Authentic 44 DX dressed up with girly chic gingham, lace, and floral patterns.
If the looks seem nostalgic, it’s because they are. Taking inspiration from “her hometown, her grandma and the hand-me-downs from her youth,” Liang’s collection offers a departure from Vans typical designs and pays homage to Liang’s Lower East Side roots.
Liang also designed several clothing pieces for the collection, including chino pants, a bucket hat, and graphic fleece jackets and t-shirts.
The collaboration also brought about a new shoe for Vans, the Sk8-Hi Tapered Modular, a high-top with a removable rubber outsole.
The Sandy Liang x Vans collection will be available in select stores, and globally online.
