A Breath of “Fresh Air” With Reese Cooper Spring/Summer 2022

Ruggedness meets elegance in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Reese Cooper’s vision fuses vintage Americana with the great outdoors, with each collection telling another chapter of the brand’s journey. For the Spring Summer 2022 Runway Show, “Fresh Air,” Cooper took viewers to the great outdoors. The San Gabriel Mountains in Azusa, California, to be exact.

The rugged terrain, with a winding trail enclosed by mountains, set the stage for a show just as wild and free as Mother Nature herself. To get to the runway – a bike trail – viewers joined a runner in a POV journey. Once he signed himself in and got ready for the show, viewers got settled into the sidelines to watch the unveiling of Reese Cooper’s Spring Summer 2022 Collection.

The first set started off clean and crisp, with white, red, black and beige. Large tote bags and backpacks accompanied wide-leg cargo pants and windbreakers. The clean-cut looks, with rugged touches, are also paired with hiking boots, perfect for the show’s setting in a National Park.

The pieces transitioned into more greys and blacks, with more casual styles. T-shirts and simple jackets were elevated from comfortable to functional with clips to attach a water bottle.

Earth tones, almost blending into the backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains, took over the scene. With beige shorts and cargo pants, muted green hoodies, quarter zips, t-shirts and polo shirts and sweater vests. It’s clear Cooper took inspiration straight from nature with these looks.

Outwear took the spotlight – or, more accurately, sunlight. Dusty rose-colored sherpa, denim patchwork and flannel – all materials typical of outdoors-people. Functional, warm and stylish.

As the show comes to a close, the music begins to sound more techno. And the looks begin to appear more modern. Models wearing silk blouses, scarf shirts and sheer mesh materials take the runway. Both in style and material, the pieces are more elegant and delicate than previous looks.

The final look of the show: a one-shoulder aquamarine mesh dress. This look is reminiscent of a clear lake on a sunny day, the mesh material rippling and catching the light. Hints of green, beige and lavender add depth to the look.

The show ends how it started – with the runner taking viewers away from the runway and back into nature. As if the show itself was only a departure from the real star: the journeys you’ll take with Reese Cooper’s pieces.
