For the first collection post Jason Wu's era, BOSS announced they would be presenting as part of the NYFW platform and that it would be the inaugural co-ed showing for the brand. Stripping back from the predictable tailoring that one might expect BOSS to produce, the brand steps into a more casual-yet-crisp lane of production for the SS19 season including more pieces of athleisure, mixed materials, and adventurous textures than we've ever seen before.

In the show's notes, it's stated that, "This season, BOSS looks to California, taking inspiration from costal cities and the modern houses overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This seamless overlap of beach and metropolitan life inspires a fresh new collection, as precision design gets a relaxed, surf-inspired vibe."

Following the title of the show "California Breeze", the runway was filled short suits, parkas, satin dresses, and laced-sandal sneakers immediately transporting onlookers to the warm west coast and finding the perfect balance between casual and sleek. The tailored quality to this collection lives in both the intentional narrative and, naturally, the BOSS suits that do indeed find themselves sauntering down the runway.

Heralding in the next generation of BOSS, this "California Breeze" collection is a sure fit for those who live actively and engage with elevated lifestyle garments. Closing out the show, a braless Cara Taylor dons an all white, flowing satin dress  that falls perfectly to the frame of her body and moves elegantly with the chosen pace of her strut bringing this collection to it's full circle moment. Now, BOSS may wondering: Are we California dreaming? The answer is absolutely.
