Céline Vipiana’s Parisian apartment will go down in history. Not as a French monument or some type of architectural gem. But as the moniker for the Maison’s swankiest line of enduringly chic handbags. 16 Rue Vivienne lent a title to the first bag designed by Hedi Slimane after his 2018 arrival at Celine. It granted a signature for the subsequent line ー Celine le 16 ー that would arise out of the original’s effortless elegance. Now, 16, seize, christens the newest addition to the 16 soft line: the Camille 16 soft.

With a relaxed hobo shape quintessentially Celine, the Camille 16 reaffirms the House’s modus operandi of understated luxury. Its functional design of two varying handleways ー a short handle for elegant shoulder carry and a longer adjustable one for a more casually elegant crossbody ー lends the piece an unexpected versatility. And staples, especially ones this lavish, should be predisposed for any and all posh undertakings.

For its first season, the Camille 16 is available in black, tan and sand leather, and smaller versions of the bag come in black, tan and rice leather, as well as a stunning natural python. Refined calfskin leather supplies a suppleness soft to the touch and shiny in finish, and the bag’s structured cut (borrowed from the 16 Soft Tote Bag) gives a sophisticatedly singular appearance.

The Camille 16 Soft is available on celine.com in both medium and small versions.
