A Gossip Girl Reboot from HBO Is Coming

Looks like the six-season show is in for the HBO reboot treatment.

The day Upper-East Siders, fantastical and otherwise, have been waiting for is finally here. A Gossip Girl reboot has been announced, and will stream on HBO Max. The reboot will reimagine the original show, which starred Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chase Crawford, and Ed Westwick, in a ten-episode release.

An official summary of the show was announced, stating, “Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.” This new Gossip Girl  is based upon a book written by Ceciliy Von Ziegesar. “The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years.”

The reboot Gossip Girl series’ Executive Producers were also the original show’s creators, Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz. HBO has stayed mum on whether or not the original cast will be involved in any capacity, but fans can’t wait to see what drama is to come in the lives of Manhattan’s up-and-coming socialites.
